Vauxhall Vivaro Vs. Renault Trafic: What is the Difference?

On the face of it, it might seem that the Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic are identical.  However, now that Vauxhall has been bought by Stellantis – the same company that owns Citroen, Peugeot, and Fiat – this means the Vauxhall Vivaro is now much more similar to the Peugeot Expert and Citroen Dispatch, rather than the Renault Trafic. Holding a reputation as both reliable and dependable, these types of vehicles are perfect for tradespeople.

So, what are the main differences between the Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic? Van Sales have put together this handy guide to help you distinguish between the two.

How are they different?

Vauxhall Vivaro’s are available in two different versions – ‘base’ and ‘sportive’.  The standard Vivaro comes with digital radio, USB, Bluetooth, and a front passenger bench seat. However, the new Vivaro Sportive models are more advanced with cruise control and rear parking sensors.

On the other hand, Renault Trafic vans come in three different models: ‘Business’, ‘Business+’ and ‘Sport’. Whilst both the standard models are identical, the differences become evident when looking at the upper trim levels of the Renault Trafic. What also sets the two vans apart is the number of advanced features seen in the sports model of the Renault Trafic. For instance, additions such as automatic headlights and touchscreen navigation can enhance the overall user experience of the vehicle.

Overall, the differences between the two vans at entry-level could best be described as minuscule. However, as you start to look at the more advanced models, the differences start to show in terms of technology, type of wheels and the upper trim.

Characteristics of the Vauxhall Vivaro

The Vauxhall Vivaro can best be known for its low roof and the impressive amount of space it can afford. The maximum payload of this vehicle is over 1.4 tonnes, meaning that the Vivaro is perfectly suited to businesses who are looking for a comfortable and hard-working van. Despite being more compact than the Renault Trafic, this vehicle is still a great all-rounder when it comes to practicality and comfortability.

Characteristics of the Renault Trafic

Although the first Renault Trafic came out in 2014, a new Trafic came out in 2019 that is emissions-compliant.  All models of the Renault Trafic are front-wheel drive and are now only available as 2.0-litre engines. As noted in the previous section, the Sport Trafic models contain features that are not in the Vauxhall Vivaro, such as touchscreen navigation. This vehicle can best be described by its comfortability, making it a perfect vehicle for long journeys.

"First time using Vansaway! I was in a bit of a panic as my van broke down and I was unable to fix it. My van is my livihood, so I looked into leasing and contract. I wish I done it sooner. I spoke to Jonathan as my first point of contact. I couldn't have got any luckier having him as my support. He was absolutely fantastic, he went above and beyond to help me. He was easy to contact and would always reply when I had any concerns or questions. His knowledge on all vehicles was impeccable, which made things easier. He listened to what I wanted and needed and explained everything thoroughly help me making the right choice in plan and kept in touch throughout the entire process! He knew I was in desperate need of a van and he did not disappoint and kept his word and I was able to get my new van delivered as soon as possible. Enjoying the drive. Its great about the perks involved in having a contract hire as well! Thank you so much for everything! Highly recommend, vans are just not how they use to be, so its great to have a brand new van along with the support of any engine faults things like that. A huge stress off my shoulders being sole trader."
