Doncaster, UK – July 2026 – Vanaways recently visited Lex Hygiene & Blue Whale SWS at their head office in Doncaster as part of a customer case study series highlighting how businesses across different sectors use their vehicle fleets to support day-to-day service delivery and future growth.
Having recently supplied and delivered a number of new Nissan Primastars to the business, it was great to see the fleet already fully branded and integrated into nationwide operations. Seeing the vehicles out on the road, supporting engineers and specialist teams across the country, is a strong reminder of the vital role commercial vehicles play in keeping service-led businesses moving and maintaining the professional standards their customers expect.
A UK-Wide Service Network with Diverse Operational Demands
During the visit, we caught up with Stephen Farr, Business Development Manager at Lex Hygiene, who shared insight into the company’s extensive UK-wide service network and the demands of supporting customers across multiple sectors.
Lex Hygiene operates across three core divisions:
- Lex Hygiene: air ventilation cleaning, grease extraction, and fire damper testing.
- Blue Whale SWS: exterior cleaning services including roofs, patios, driveways, fire escapes, and specialist soft washing.
- Killgerm Pest Control: integrated pest control services.
With teams working from Glasgow Airport down to Exeter and across major commercial sites throughout the UK, reliable and correctly specified vehicles are essential to carrying specialist equipment, stock, and tools safely and efficiently.
Simplifying Vehicle Procurement Through a Single Fleet Partner
Stephen explained that partnering with Vanaways has significantly simplified what was previously a time-consuming vehicle procurement process. Rather than approaching multiple manufacturers individually, the business can now discuss its operational requirements with a single point of contact and receive a range of suitable vehicle options that meet both practical needs and budget considerations.
He highlighted that this approach saves valuable time for a growing business where management teams are already balancing multiple priorities.
Fleet Investment Supporting Operations and Brand Image
The newly supplied Nissan Primastars have already become a popular addition to the fleet, offering the specification, warranty, and practicality required for demanding field operations.
For Blue Whale SWS in particular, the fleet is not only a functional asset but also an extension of the company’s professional image. The fully branded vans carry specialist soft wash equipment, long-reach brushes, and cleaning systems designed for large-scale exterior cleaning projects, while also providing a strong visual presence when arriving on customer sites.
As Stephen noted, customers expect a premium service, and arriving in a professionally presented, fully branded vehicle with a fully uniformed team helps reinforce the standards the business is committed to delivering.
Stephen highlighted how important the appearance and capability of the vehicles are when representing the business:
“When you turn up to site with a fully emblazoned van, you’re not just a one-man band. People expect when we’re speaking to them on the phone and we’re telling them the service we’re going to offer, we turn up in a fully emblazoned van, fully uniformed. It’s what they’re expecting.”

Quality, Compliance, and Continued Growth
What stood out most during our visit was the passion and professionalism across the entire team. From specialist kitchen hygiene services and NAAD21-compliant cleaning to delivering a reliable service that helps customers stay compliant, reduce downtime, and maintain the highest operational standards, Lex Hygiene is a business that clearly understands the importance of keeping its clients operational.
That commitment to quality, combined with ambitious growth plans for Blue Whale SWS, is driving continued investment in the fleet.
Stephen explained that having a reliable fleet partner will play an important role as the company continues to expand:
“As the business is growing, my aim is to grow this into a much larger business. For that, we’re going to need regular supplier vans that are going to need to be the right spec to be able to do the right thing. Having a partner that you can just pick up the phone to when needed is really, really important.”
Looking ahead, the business is also exploring opportunities to reduce its carbon footprint and transition towards the next generation of electric commercial vehicles. As operations expand, having a trusted fleet partner capable of sourcing the right vehicle, at the right specification, and at the right time will become even more important.
We’re proud to have played a small part in supporting the journey of Lex Hygiene & Blue Whale SWS and look forward to seeing the business continue to grow across the UK.
