Key Features Your Van May Have That You Didn’t Know Existed

Modern day vans are designed with driver comfort and practicality in mind, where there are often additional features to van interiors and exteriors that make a particular model stand out. In a crowded motor market, these kinds of additions can sway buyers to make a purchase, where car companies are always looking for the next must-have feature or accessory to add to their vehicles.

When you purchase a new model, you may not immediately be aware of all of these exciting features, where it is always a good idea to have a browse through your vehicle handbook to make sure you’re not missing out on anything.

Peruse this list for an insight into just some of the more subtle features that you may be able to spot in your van.

Conversation Mirror

In recent years, it has become more common for vans, minivans and SUVs to feature an additional mirror unit that allows the driver to keep an eye on the backseats or the loading area during long drives. This is known as the conversation mirror, and is often tucked away in a compartment near the rearview mirror, where it can be pulled down for regular use.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring

Since 2014, it has been a legal requirement for vehicles to be installed with a working tyre pressure monitoring system, or TPMS, which alerts the driver when the tyres have lost pressure whilst on the road. This safety feature may only come to mind when you see the warning light, but it will always be engaged to ensure your tyres are in optimal condition.

Hidden Storage

Everyone loves a van with a practical array of interior storage options, which help to make long drives more comfortable and keep your cab space tidy. Some models may include less obvious storage compartments that are worth looking out for, including space inside armrests, under the backseats or within the dashboard area.

Extra Hooks

Most vans with a large loading area will have an array of cargo hooks for your storage convenience, but there are likely to be additional hooks throughout your motor. These could be found in the cab area and between seatrests, where they can help to secure extra materials and equipment throughout the vehicle.

Loading Tools

If your van is built with cargo in mind, then it probably has a range of less obvious features designed to make loading and unloading easier. These can include loading ramps stowed below the cargo box that can be extended, or door levers that allow the loading doors to open wider than their standard range.

"First time using Vansaway! I was in a bit of a panic as my van broke down and I was unable to fix it. My van is my livihood, so I looked into leasing and contract. I wish I done it sooner. I spoke to Jonathan as my first point of contact. I couldn't have got any luckier having him as my support. He was absolutely fantastic, he went above and beyond to help me. He was easy to contact and would always reply when I had any concerns or questions. His knowledge on all vehicles was impeccable, which made things easier. He listened to what I wanted and needed and explained everything thoroughly help me making the right choice in plan and kept in touch throughout the entire process! He knew I was in desperate need of a van and he did not disappoint and kept his word and I was able to get my new van delivered as soon as possible. Enjoying the drive. Its great about the perks involved in having a contract hire as well! Thank you so much for everything! Highly recommend, vans are just not how they use to be, so its great to have a brand new van along with the support of any engine faults things like that. A huge stress off my shoulders being sole trader."

"First time leasing with Vanaways, but have leased before. Initial contact was with Justin, who found the van I need very quickly at a competitive price. No hard sell, and seamless. Yasmine completed the admin and arranged delivery. Great service from both. Follow up calls to see if I was satisfied with van. Professional and efficient, would highly recommend."

"I recently bought a new car from this company and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Tyler and Steve C were both brilliant to deal with – friendly, professional and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. They took the time to answer all my questions and made everything straightforward and stress-free. The customer service was excellent and I never felt pressured at any point. Both Tyler and Steve C really went above and beyond to make sure everything was sorted and that I was happy with the car. I couldn’t recommend them enough and would definitely buy from them again in the future. Thanks again for such a great experience!"
